Lake Natron is a salt or alkaline lake located in north Ngorongoro District of Arusha Region in Tanzania at the border with Kenya. It is in the Gregory Rift, which is the eastern branch of the East African Rift.[1] The lake is within the Lake Natron Basin, a Ramsar Site wetland of international significance.[2] It is the only regular breeding area for Africa's lesser flamingoes, although this habitat is not protected and is under threat from planned development projects.
Renowned for the Great Migration, this park offers breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife, including the Big Five.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this volcanic caldera is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the Big Five and the endangered black rhino.
The short and long wet spring season from November to May with hot humid spells in January and February, though, brings new life to the area around Lake Natron, and you may prefer a more lush landscape for your African active-adventure safari.
