Ndutu Wildebeest Migration Safari lends the opportunity to witness the massive herds of wildebeest migration in the Southeast Plains of Serengeti, as well as discover the abundant wildlife in the northern parks of Tanzania. Day 1 Arrival In Arusha`

You will arrive in Arusha through border point or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport. Your driver guide will meet you and drive you to Masailand Safari & Lodge. Arusha is situated at the foot of the beautiful Mount Meru, Arusha is known as the safari capital of Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit. It's a bustling city filled with an interesting mix of markets, chaotic traffic, old colonial buildings and modern conveniences, like coffee shops with WiFi, and an array of great restaurants.

Day 2 Arusha To Tarangire National Park

With packed Lunch, depart Arusha for two hours drive through the Maasai stepple towards Tarangire National Park. As you enter the park we’ll be greeted by a landscape dominated by majestic baobabs rising out of the acacia parkland, forming a perfect backdrop for the large herds of African Elephants wandering among them. Other mammals sharing this habitat range from Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild dogs and Black-backed Jackal, to Kirk’s Dik-Dik, Dwarf and Banded Mongoose, Impala, Beisa Oryx, Steenbok and African Hare. You should expect to see Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest and Waterbuck The variety of birds we may see include Maasai Ostrich, White-headed Volture, African Scops Owls and the endemic Ashy Starling. Lunch in the Park, later in the afternoon drive to Hhando Coffee Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Karatu - Ndutu Plains

Drive to Ndutu Southern Serengeti for lunch, In the afternoon, journey on with a game drive within Ndutu Plains in search of wildebeest migration. Serengeti means endless plain in the Maasai language. The southern plain is where this name comes from. The vast grassy plains stretch as far as your eyes can see. It is in the southeast plain of Serengeti where the expanse herds of wildebeest migration stay from December through April. 90% of adult female wildebeest give birth in this plain during February. During this time predators such as lions, cheetahs and hyenas are seen in good numbers as their prey is in abundance. Dinner and Overnight at Tanzania Bush Camp.

Day 4 Ndutu Plains - The Migration Continues

Early breakfast at the camp and embark for an amaizing day to interact with Wildebeest and Zebra Migration, It is during February, the wildebeest are on the short grass plains (Ndutu) of the southeast part of the ecosystem, grazing and giving birth to approximately 500,000 calves in 2 to 3 weeks. Few calves are born ahead of time and of these, hardly any survive, largely because very young calves are more noticeable to predators when mixed with older calves from the previous year. As the rains end in May, the animals start moving northwest into the areas around the Grumeti River in western Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Tanzania Bush Camp.

Day 5 Ndutu To Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast at your camp you will drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a wonderful game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is just one of those places that has to be seen – words alone cannot do it justice. Leaving our lodge we’ll drive down into what was once, many eons ago, the fiery heart of a huge volcano. Today this natural amphitheatre has a much more peaceful atmosphere as Wildebeest, Coke’s Hartebeest, Grant’s and Thomson’s Gazelles, and Common Zebra feed contentedly - or at least as contentedly as the ever present Lions and Cheetah will allow, although the Black Rhinoceros here will be less concerned about these predators. The bird life in the crater varies according to the seasons but during our visit we should see Grey Crowned Crane, Lappet-faced Vulture, Black-bellied and Kori Bustards, Fischer’s Lovebird and Northern Anteater Chat among many others. Lunch to be saved at the designated picnic site in the Crater. Later you will drive back to Twiga lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Mto wa Mbu - Lake Manyara National Park - Arusha

After an Early breakfast, depart to Lake Manyara National Park. The park offers a variety of habitats that is; underground water forest, baobab-strewn cliffs, acacia woodlands, water forest algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the soda ash. Lake Manyara itself rich in flamingos. Despite the lake being small, it supports large numbers of animals species and absurd bird life. Lions present in this park are well known for their tree climbing character also, compared to other parks in the world Lake Manyara has huge troops of baboons. A fully day game drive will make you enjoy the breathing taking scenery. Then you will be taken back to Arusha town.

The best time to visit the Serengeti for wildebeest calving season is from late January to early March. This is when the wildebeest migration is in the area and the calves are born on the plains.
