This 6-day version is designed for trekkers with good fitness levels and some altitude experience. Your journey will take you through lush rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally to the arctic summit zone—culminating at Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Itinerary Details
Hike: 10 km / 5–7 hours
Habitat: Montane forest
After breakfast, you'll be driven from Moshi to Machame Gate. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest zone, with chances to spot blue monkeys and vibrant flora. Arrive at Machame Camp, nestled in the misty forest.
Hike: 5 km / 4–6 hours
Habitat: Moorland
The forest clears as you ascend into the moorland zone, where giant heathers and volcanic rock dominate the landscape. You’ll arrive at Shira Camp in the afternoon with sweeping views of Kibo Peak.
Hike: 10 km / 6–8 hours
Habitat: Semi-desert
Today is all about acclimatization. You’ll climb high to Lava Tower before descending to sleep at Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adjust to altitude and improves summit chances.
Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
Depart Tarangire after breakfast and travel to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater—Africa’s Eden. After descending into the world’s largest unbroken caldera, explore a wildlife-rich haven home to black rhinos, lions, buffalo, and hippos. In the evening, retreat to Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, perched on the crater rim with awe-inspiring views.
Hike: 4 km / 3–4 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Today is a short trek to Barafu Camp, where you’ll rest, hydrate, and prepare for the final push to the summit. You’ll have an early dinner before going to bed at around 7 PM. Wake-up call: midnight!
Hike: 17 km / 11–15 hours
Habitat: Arctic zone to rainforest
Summit night begins at midnight. Climb through scree and switchbacks to Stella Point (5,756m), then on to the summit at Uhuru Peak—Africa’s highest point. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.
Hike: 10 km / 3–4 hours
Return transfer to hotel or airport
Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive a summit certificate. Transfer back to your hotel for a hot shower and celebration.
