Itinerary Details

  • Morning drive from Arusha or Moshi to Momella Gate (1,500 m)

  • Registration and meet your ranger (armed ranger required by park rules)

  • Trek through open grassland and forest with possible sightings of giraffes, zebras, and buffalo

  • Duration: ~5–6 hours
    Overnight: Miriakamba Hut
    Meals: Lunch, Dinner

  • Steep climb through montane forest and heather zone

  • Arrive at Saddle Hut in the afternoon

  • Optional sunset hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for acclimatization

  • Duration: ~3–4 hours to Saddle + 1-hour optional hike
    Overnight: Saddle Hut
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Midnight wake-up and early start to summit

  • Reach Socialist Peak at sunrise for amazing views of Kilimanjaro

  • Long descent back to Saddle Hut, short rest, and continue down to Momella Gate

  • Duration: 10–12 hours total

  • Return transfer to Arusha or Moshi
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
