Itinerary Details

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, your Jema Safaris guide will warmly welcome you and drive you to a traditional Maasai eco-lodge located on the outskirts of Arusha. Today is all about settling in and immersing yourself in Maasai life — from the warm welcome with traditional songs and dances to watching the sun set over the plains with panoramic views of Mount Meru. You'll enjoy a peaceful evening under the stars in this eco-conscious lodge designed in harmony with Maasai culture.

Spend a full day living as the Maasai do. Join warriors for a guided nature walk, learn about traditional herbal medicine, bead-making, and fire-starting, and even try your hand at spear throwing. You’ll visit a nearby Maasai boma (homestead) and hear stories passed down through generations. This immersive cultural day is a rare opportunity to engage directly with one of East Africa’s most iconic communities, offering authentic cultural exchange and deep connection.

After breakfast, head to the nearby Arusha National Park, a hidden gem filled with lush forests, volcanic landscapes, and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Enjoy a game drive and a guided walking safari where you may spot giraffes, buffaloes, flamingos, and the elusive black-and-white colobus monkey. After the park adventure, relax at Planet Lodge, a serene garden retreat nestled on the outskirts of Arusha.

Today you travel to Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobab trees and large herds of elephants. During your game drive, expect to encounter lions, zebras, wildebeests, and a variety of birds. This park is particularly spectacular during the dry season, when animals gather along the Tarangire River. You'll overnight at The Castle Lodge, a cozy hilltop lodge with sweeping views of the savannah.

Your adventure continues as you drive into the legendary Serengeti National Park, home to the Great Wildebeest Migration and iconic predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Spend two unforgettable days on safari, exploring the vast golden plains. Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives followed by evenings at Pure Luxury Tented Camp, where you’ll fall asleep to the sounds of nature in the heart of the wilderness.

After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most breathtaking wildlife destinations. This extinct volcanic caldera is teeming with wildlife, including black rhinos, lions, hyenas, and hippos, all within a stunning green bowl. After a full day of game viewing, return to The Castle Lodge for a relaxing evening.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a lush and scenic reserve nestled between the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the lake itself. Famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, and vibrant birdlife (including thousands of flamingos), Manyara offers a perfect contrast to the wide-open plains of the Serengeti. Enjoy a leisurely game drive through its diverse ecosystems—from groundwater forests to acacia woodlands and open savannah. In the late afternoon, drive to The Castle Lodge, where you'll unwind with views over the surrounding hills.

Embark on an early morning journey to Lake Eyasi, a remote area home to the last hunter-gatherer tribes of Tanzania. Spend time with the Hadzabe people, learning their hunting techniques, tracking wildlife, and even joining a traditional bow-and-arrow hunt. Later, visit the Datoga tribe, skilled blacksmiths known for their intricate beadwork and metal tools. This is a true off-the-beaten-path cultural experience that connects you with ancient traditions.

Depending on your flight schedule, your driver will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport. As you say goodbye to Tanzania, take with you unforgettable memories of wildlife safaris, Maasai culture, and once-in-a-lifetime connections. Karibu tena – welcome again!
